The Journal of American Institute for Conservation (JAIC) seeks submissions for a special issue on the topic of “Sustainability within Conservation and Collections Care.” The issue will cover the ways in which conservators and collections care professionals in both institutional and private practices are experiencing the effects of our changing climate and adapting their practices to be more sustainable.

This survey is part of a PhD thesis, taking place at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of the NOVA School of Science and Technology, that explores an oil paint defect referred to as "Alligatoring" or "Bitumen Cracking".
The aim is to address the following questions regarding the perception of this defect:
Is this phenomenon well recognised?
Is it considered to be widespread?
What do people see as the dominant characteristics of this type of defect?

The Philosophy & Ethics Committee of the Held in Trust initiative invites colleagues to take a short survey on the current state and future needs of collaborative practice, conservation ethics, and conservation philosophy. Data from the survey will feed into the Held in Trust report that will be shared with AIC membership at the May 2022 annual meeting and guide future programming and development in cultural heritage conservation.
