ECCO partners from ICCROM launched an initiative about heritage sample collections gathered from objects and sites of cultural, historical or scientific value. This initiative aims to raise awareness of the value and importance of these collections as a vital knowledge resource, and to progress practical solutions to enhance their preservation access and use.

As a first step, to get a better picture of the current situation around the world, ICCROM is launching a survey (see https://www.iccrom.org/news/survey-samples-collections).
The survey is available in 6 languages, via this link: https://surveys.iccrom.org/index.php/673929?lang=en
Please read ICCROM’s announcement bellow:
“Survey of Samples Collections
Do you or your organisation have a sample collection?
If yes, ICCROM would like to hear from you.
Many institutions around the world hold material samples collected from objects and sites of cultural, historic or scientific value. These collections contain huge potential for future research and didactic purposes, but they are often little known, and their value under recognised. As a result, they are often critically threatened.
To get a better picture of the current situation, ICCROM is undertaking a survey.
Please tell us about your collection by taking our survey. It should only take around 10 minutes of your time, and is available in six languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and German).
The link to the survey is: https://surveys.iccrom.org/index.php/673929?lang=en
With many thanks and best wishes!”
